My job sucks. End of story, I decided to blog about how bad my job sucks because I had a bad day at work.
Okay so I work at the Bank of America Home Loans call center. My title is “Home Servicing Specialist.” I pretty much help people with their mortgages, I answer any questions that they may have, and try to the best of my ability to be “extra warm and fuzzy” as my manager says. Now this may not sound too hard, but trust me, it is.
It wouldn't be so hard if people just paid their mortgage on time, see when someone is three years past due on their mortgage and their home is in foreclosure and their sale date is next week, and I tell them that there is nothing that I could do for them, well that’s just bad news right there.
When I got hired there, they told me to become the devil pretty much, they said that people are going to call us and cry, or yell whichever they prefer, and we have to tell them “sorry, nothing I can do.” I have been trained to become the devil, and how I can live with that I have no idea how. But hey, it pays the bills.
So anyways that’s what I do on a daily basis, I answer phones and get yelled at all day long. At times there are the good days where the customers actually praise me and tell me that I am the best employee on the face of the Bank of America planet and that they love me, yet this recognition goes unrecognized. I need a raise. Or a promotion, whichever comes first.
I guess the pros to having a job like mine, is that every conversation with a customer I have is over the phone, that way I don’t have to see anyone face to face. I hide behind my computer, if that makes us cowards, so let it be. Hey, it pays the bills.
Mortgages are a touchy subject though, especially with the recession that we are currently going through. And I supposed knowing that I have the ability to actually save someones home (which I have done multiple times thank you very much) is a good feeling. Which gave me once again the urge to blog, I can’t help it man, i’m a journalism major.

iPhone vs. Android
As a very loyal AT&T customer, I decided to finally get an iPhone. So I have an iPhone 4 and i decided to give some reviews on it. So the pros to having an iPhone, it is very easy to use. There is auto correct for the texts which is practically my life because now I find myself expecting my MacBook to automatically correct my misspellings and it doesn't and it frustrates me because I feel that I am not addicted to it.
It has a front facing camera, which I find can come in helpful a lot because to actually take a picture is slightly off, plus you can see how the picture is going to turn out. The quality of the pictures are good as well. You can also have apps on the iPhone, which I know that thats also a quality that other phones have, but since this is my first smart phone, it never fails to amuse me.
Overall the iPhone has been a good phone for me, I have not had a problem with it yet and I probably will have the iPhone for the rest of my existence. Yet I know that there is a big conflict on Androids versus the iPhone, so I also decided to ask an opinion of an android user so that way I can compare and contrast the two.
So the pros to an android phone is that it is a google franchise and they made the android network a free system. The android market has thousands of free apps. The majority of the top phones are all smart phones, and also androids. Android phones also has swype, which is also an auto correct system that is made just for android phones for a faster way to text.
Some of the android phones also have a high HD amoled screen, which is also just prone to android phone. Some of the phones also have a higher mega pixel camera (ex. the Verizon Incredible has an 8.0 mega pixel camera), also some phones also have a 3D capability. As far as face time or skype, almost all of the android phones are not limited to a VGA front facing camera, like the iPhone is. It produces better pixelation while video chatting.
So the pros to having an android phone opposed to an iPhone is, the quality of some of the phones are better than the iPhone. The android market has thousands of more free apps than the apple network. Screen resolution, and also faster speeds due to constantly new updates and faster processors being built as we speak.
The pros to having an iPhone, is that it’s pretty much just awesome. iPhone vs. Android is always a discussion up for debate, but when it gets down to it, it’s all just a matter of preference. I am an apple person, always have been always will be, what can I say, I need a phone to match my iPad and Macbook.

Fanilow?
TV series are awesome. Especially reality TV (and I could argue the title of “reality tv” because everyone knows that it is actually the complete opposite but I really do not want to get into that right now.). One of my favorite shows is Will & Grace, and yes I do feel the urge to blog about it because I just watched 5 straight hours of the movie marathon that Lifetime had today.
So there are 4 main characters in Will & Grace. There is Will Truman, who is a gay lawyer, Grace Adler, who is a interior designer and also Will’s best friend, Jack McFarland who is also gay and Will’s best friend, and Karen Walker, who is Grace’s assistant and very rich.
One of my favorite episodes from Will & Grace is the episode titled “Fanilow” and that is because the episode is about Barry Manilow. There is a Barry Manilow show playing in New York City titled “A Very Barry Christmas.” Will is first in line at the box office and plans to camp out all night to get good seats to see the show. Will, being embarrassed at the fact that he is waiting in line for Barry Manilow tickets (which by the way, I have no idea why because Barry Manilow is the greatest thing that could bless this planet), he tells Grace that he is feeding the homeless.
While Grace is walking home she ends up seeing Will camping out for the tickets. Will has Grace hold his place while he runs across the street to use the restroom, while waiting for Will, Grace ends up meeting another woman that is waiting in line and talks to her about how her mother ended up not wanting to go shopping for their annual Hanukkah weekend. It just so happens that while Grace is talking about her mother, she sees her through a restaurant window across the street having dinner with her friend Jack.
Karen ends up seeing Grace as well and agrees to take Grace’s place while she goes across the street to confront her mom. Cut to Will in the sub shop across the street waiting to use the restroom, though he is just waiting in line to use the bathroom, no one will let him cut. An older unattractive gentleman tries hitting on Will while he is in line, but Will keeps trying to tell him that he is not interested.
Cut to Karen waiting in line for the tickets, the woman sitting next to her starts playing a Manilow song and Karen falls in love and suddenly knows the words to his songs. Cut to Grace across the street confronting her mother, she tells Jack that there is a buff gentleman waiting for him at the bar so she can distract him to talk to her mom. Yet when she talks to her mom, she tells her that it’s better Jack than her that he has to hang out with her.
Grace goes back across the street to Karen and starts complaining to her about Jack and her mom and acts as if she could care less. Karen starts playing a Manilow song and Grace starts crying and singing and runs back across the street to talk to her mom.
While all of this is going on, Will finds out that the unattractive gentleman standing behind him in line happens to be Barry Manilows roadie and that he will introduce him to Barry if he goes on a date with him, Will agrees and follows the roadie back across the street to meet his favorite singer.
Will & Grace is the best, I have no idea what I would do without it. And that’s pretty sad, even coming from me.

Comparisons
Chuck Klosterman is the greatest author of all time. I was reading his book Sex, Drugs, and Cocoa Puffs and there was one chapter in which he was saying that he likes to compare everyone he meets to people that have been on the TV series The Real World. So just for fun, I decided to compare my friends to Harry Potter (and this includes 1 - 7, but perhaps not 5 because I really did not care for it that much.)
So I thought I would start off with myself, which is probably a bad idea because who wants to compare themselves to people in movies unless they are just magical and great, which I am not, but I will try. So I could be Hermione, but I think she is too good and is always wanting to do the right thing, which I don’t. Now that I think about it, I really don’t know one person in the world that is like Hermione, so she is out of it.
Okay so i’ll start it off with something easy, Professor Snape. He HAS to be my friend Spencer, and that is because Spencer has a black hole for a heart, ask everyone. Everyone knows. They all talk. Massiet has to be Professor Moody, because he enjoys sitting around and drinking, and occasionally seeing your lies with his fake eye.
Jay would be Lee Jordan, because he is fun and outgoing and likes to make fun of his enemies in front of people, preferably teachers. Rachel is Luna, because she is strange, very very strange. Tim has to be Draco Malfoy, because he has blonde hair. This has nothing to do with his evil soul and pretentious father.
Now that I think of it, I think I would be like Percy, because he is pompous and has an urge to be at the top. And yes, I label myself as pompous, don’t judge. Hmm let’s see, my sister has to be Pansy Parkinson, because she is evil and snotty. I just wish she didn’t end up marrying Draco in the end, because he is very attractive.
Jovanni would be both of the Weasley brothers, Fred and George, he is too funny to be placed as only one person. DJ would be Ron, because he is frightened of spiders and plays a good game of chess. I now think that i’m running out of people.
Ahh yes, and the biggest comparison of them all, my mother would be Voldemort, and that would be because she is evil and is out to kill the world so she can be the only everlasting soul in the world and can take over and be....evil.
That’s my interpretation of my friends, I hope they never read this blog, mostly because I called everyone evil soul-sucking individuals from Harry Potter. It’s just cynicism, I sub- consciously practice it on a daily basis, it’s not my fault, blame Chuck Klosterman. He’s the one who started it all anyways.

Feminist Sweepstakes
So I was reflecting on some of my older blogs, and here is one that I once wrote for my women's studies class.
Like Lorber stated in her essay, I have always known that sex and gender were not the same thing. Our whole life we are put into one category in whether we are a "man" or a "woman." What exactly does it mean to be a man anyways? Besides genitalia, men are perceived to be strong and hard working. Yet when a woman decides to convert to a man, and displays the same characteristics of a strong, hard working man...she is looked down upon by society. Lorber was on the subway and she saw a man with a baby that "looked" like a boy, and then realized that it was a girl when she saw the earrings and the flower sneakers. How is it that she knew it was a girl when she saw the earrings, are boys not allowed to wear earrings? Or is that too feminine for them.
She also spoke on how people “applaud men silently” when they see them taking care of their child. Like we should be so proud of the man for doing something he’s supposed to be doing. Why is the hard work and care all in a woman’s hands? When we see women walking down the street with a baby stroller, it’s just like another person walking down the street. Oh but when a man walks down the street with his child, we should all applaud him silently. It’s hard to believe we’re in 2010 and it’s still a shock to people that men are actually taking care of THEIR child. In a perfect world all parents would raise their kids androgynous, yet judging by our society and the media; it wouldn't take too long for that kid to convert right into their category of being feminine or masculine. Lorber was talking about her son attending a nonsexist school where they had unisex bathrooms. Yet when she went to her sons play, the boys were not wearing make-up while the girls were. Little did she know that it was her son who influenced the other boys not to wear make-up.
I loved the part about the berdaches, hijras, and xaniths. The “manly-hearted woman” and “male woman.” We are known to be the most desirable country in the world yet we can’t even accept a man wanting to be a woman or vice versa. We have progressed so much throughout the years from women’s rights to equality and unity. Yet we would rather have people be something they are not just because it’s “normal” than to accept them for who they truly are and who they want to be. In Chinese societies, they used to bound their daughters feet so their feet would stop growing. It “attracted males” or the women in Africa did female circumcision so they would be more desirable to men and ensure their marriageability. It’s funny how the man is the ultimate prize and women have to go through pain and alter the way we look just to be desirable to men. Although in our society we may not go to that extent, some are still victims of it (i.e. plastic surgery). I do agree with what Lorber said and I do expect that coming out of this class to be more knowledgeable about gender and identity and I would hope that it would alter and change a lot of the oblivion to our society and gender that we are so unaware of everyday.
After reading this a few months after writing it, my thoughts are: never take women's studies.

Sentinel vs. Sentinel: The Fate of Sentinel
So I used to blog about video games in my women’s studies class and how bad they were and how children shouldn’t play them because they depict that violence is right and awesome. Okay so I lied, video games are great and I love them.
Lately the video game that I have been playing is Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds. It is a fighting game that include characters from Marvel, such as Wolverine, Magneto, DeadPool, Storm, Sentinel, and Hulk; and also characters from Capcom such as Morrigan, Ryu, Akuma, Wesker, Viewtiful Joe, and Dante. So in the game you are able to play some of your favorite characters from comic books, cartoons, and movies.
So there are a few different sections in the game, as such any game. There is “offline mode,” this is mode in which you can play against your friends, or play “arcade mode,” which is a mode in which you can play against the computer for a few different stages. Also in the offline mode you can do training, where you can play against the computer or a friend, you just can never die so it’s great if you want to practice.
There is also something called “missions” in offline mode, where you push the buttons on the controller that it tells you too, to perform different combos. This is also very helpful because it shows you how to link together certain moves. There are ten different missions for every character.
Now there is “online mode,” or as I call it the crazy mode. This is the mode where you can go online and play against other opponents from all over the world. China, Japan, London, Australia, Canada, you name it, they’re on it. On this mode, you can either go into something called the lobby, where you take turns playing the previous winner until he or she is defeated, then you play against the new winner.
There is also the “Rank match” this is where you play against someone once and you are just playing to try to level up your rank, to show how good you are at the game. Now keep in mind that people all over the world play this game um let me think, EVERY DAY. So they can get really good at this game. CAUTION: GAME MAY CAUSE HEADACHES AND FRUSTRATION, CAPCOM IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE YOU MAY DO TO YOUR PROPERTY.
There are also tournaments that are hosted, where, if you’re good enough, you can go national and play against other pro-players to try and achieve a trophy and the title of the winner of the game. Once again, another event in which you can play against others all around the world.
Though this game has caused many a frustration for me, in the end it is just a game and a very good one at that. I would recommend this game to anyone and I give it 5 out of 5 stars!

To be a program, or not to be? That is the question.
So recently I just saw Tron:Legacy for the millionth time, this time on RedBox, and I feel as if I just can't get enough. It is the sequel to TRON which is a disney movie that came out in 1982. Tron:Legacy came out in 2010. It was directed by Joseph Kosinski and stars Garret Hedlund as the main character Sam Flynn, Jeff Bridges as Kevin Flynn which is Sam's father. Olivia Wilde plays Quorra, who is a program.
The movie starts off with Kevin and Sam Flynn, Kevin is telling Sam that he has to go to work, but when Sam wakes up in the morning, they will go to Kevin’s arcade “Flynn’s” and play games together. When Sam wakes up in the morning, he finds that his father was missing, and was not coming back to play games with him.
Cut to Sam in 20 years, he’s not the little five year old boy waiting for his dad to come home, now he’s trying to hack his fathers company, Encom. When Kevin Flynn was the owner of the company, he would let users be able to download a software for free, when Flynn went missing, then Encom starting charging for the software.
Sam breaks into Encom, hacks the system, and makes the software free. The next day when Sam gets out of jail, he gets a visitor at his home, it’s Alan Bradley played by Bruce Boxleitner. He tells Sam that he got a paige from his fathers office at “Flynn’s,” though no one has been in there for 20 years.
Sam goes to Flynn’s to see about the paige when he notices the arcade game box for the video game Tron, which his father created, and puts in a quarter to try and play it, the quarter doesn’t go through, and when Sam bends down to retrieve it, he notices some marks on the floor that would indicate that the arcade box has been moved a few times. Sam then moves the arcade box and discovers a whole new world that his dad has created.
Sam goes on to discover this new world and find out the mystery of his missing father. The movie itself is just wonderful, and movie critics would probably describe it as mind-blowingly great, action packed, and will keep you wanting more.
Another thing that makes Tron: Legacy really good, is the sound track. The sound track to the movie has a lot of electrical techno like songs, which is all played by one band, Daft Punk. Now let me distract from the main topic here to talk about Daft Punk, usually i’m not into any techno type music, but Daft Punk is just so great. They have a more rock like sound behind there music which makes them different.
Okay so back to the movie, well all in all the movie is really good, it has a good story line, good sound track, and a good cast. Nothing in reference to the main character, Garret Hedlund though, he’s just a bonus.

Okay so back to the movie, well all in all the movie is really good, it has a good story line, good sound track, and a good cast. Nothing in reference to the main character, Garret Hedlund though, he’s just a bonus.
